| Introduction |
|
The major non-immigrant visa categories applied by Indians are the visitor visa, student visa and work visa.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
You will have to make personal appearance to apply for a visa unless you qualify for Non-Present Facility. You are entitled to this facility if you satisfy any of the following criteria:
- If within the last three years you have traveled to the U.K. in the same category as you are applying now.
- If you are a person who has traveled abroad extensively.
- If you are a spouse or child under the age of 16 years of a person coming under any of the above two categories and you are travelling with such a person.
- If you are an officer of the Indian Foreign Service or Indian Administrative Service.
- If you are a seamen having a previous seamen visa. In this case the seamen's book and a letter from a recognized shipping company must accompany.
- If you have studied in the U.K. in a student visa and now you are applying for a student visa again. Full supporting documents must be attached.
- If you are a crewmember of an airline on a route which either lands in or transits the United Kingdom.
- If you are a returning resident to the United Kingdom. In this case evidence of your current immigration status like copies of your old passport or letters from the U.K. Home Office should be attached.
Application has to be made in the prescribed form (Form 1M 2A)
Your application form must be submitted by hand or by post together with:
- your passport;
- two recent passport sized photographs
