Introduction
To apply for a visa, the applicant must apply in person to the embassy or consulate. There is no system by which a proxy can carry out the application procedures for a visa to Japan.

When applying for a visa at the embassy or consulate, you might be requested to submit documents in addition to those mentioned here. Purposes for entering Japan are broadly divided into those requiring short-term stays, such as tourism, and other purposes, such as work, necessitating long-term stays.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED WITH VISA APPLICATIONS

The following documents must be submitted whatever the purpose of the visit
  1. Passport
  2. Two 45 mm x 45 mm passport-type photos taken within the previous six months Two official visa application forms, available at the embassy or consulate
  3. Documents certifying the purpose of the visit
  4. The documents listed are for general cases. In specific cases, applicants may be able to omit some documents, or you may have to submit additional documents depending on the content of the application.
