Immigration Law refers to the law governing immigration or movement of Indian nationals to another country. This law is also related with the Nationality Law as far as foreign nationals are concerned as the issues of citizenship are also involved. In India, the Immigration Law is governed by the Constitution of India that speaks for single citizenship of a national for the whole country.

As per the Indian Constitution, any person who was born in the Indian territory, whose parents were also born in the Indian territory and who has been an ordinary Indian territory resident for minimum 5 years immediately preceding any such commencement is considered as an Indian Citizen. In India, the Immigration Law observes the National Policies that are related with controlling of Immigration phenomenon to the country.
